"One of the most personal pieces I have created is a song called Met You, written in dedication to survivors of domestic violence. As a survivor myself, this song comes from a deeply lived and emotional place. Writing it became part of my own healing journey and a way to speak openly about pain, resilience, survival, and reclaiming voice.
Met You was created to empower and uplift the voices of survivors, especially those who may still be finding the strength to speak, leave, heal, or begin again. Through this song, I wanted listeners to feel seen, supported, and reminded that they are not alone. Music has always been medicine for me, and this piece carries that intention of healing, strength, and transformation. As an artist, I believe storytelling through music has the power to create connection and open conversations that are often difficult to have. Sharing my experiences through song has allowed me to connect with others in meaningful ways and remind people that survival can also be a pathway toward reclaiming identity, voice, and personal power." |

I wrote I Fell in Love as a tribute to the moments and emotions that come with truly falling in love, the spark, the connection, the excitement, and that euphoric feeling that can completely shift your spirit. It is a song about those beautiful moments when you feel deeply connected to another person and to yourself at the same time.
For me, love is more than romance. It is a vibration, a powerful energy rooted in gentleness, compassion, trust, and emotional safety. I wanted this song to capture the feeling of being held in a healthy love, the kind of love that allows people to grow, heal, and feel fully seen. I believe that when we move through life from a place of love, softness, and kindness, we create more peace not only within ourselves, but within the world around us. I Fell in Love is a reminder to hold onto those feelings and moments throughout life, because love, in its healthiest form, has the power to transform us. |

"Maskawasiwin is a Cree word for “Strength.” This recording is deeply personal to me, and every song on the album is dedicated to the people, teachings, and experiences that have carried me through my life journey. The album honours my children, who continue to teach me so much about love, growth, resilience, and life itself. It is also dedicated to my grandparents, Frederik and Fabiola Spence, who raised me with strong teachings, unconditional love, and guidance that continue to shape who I am today. Though they now walk in the Spirit World, I continue to feel their protection and presence in my life and in my music.
This recording is also a reflection of the many family members, friends, collaborators, and artists who supported me in finding the courage to create and share my voice. I carry deep gratitude for all of the contributing artists who shared their gifts on this project, and especially to my producer, Marc Merilainen, whose patience, knowledge, and encouragement helped guide me through the recording process. Above all, this album is an offering of gratitude to Creator for blessing me with the gift of song. Music has carried me through many chapters of my life, and Maskawasiwin represents strength not only in survival, but in healing, connection, love, and community.
